The
Dubroom reviews a lot of different material, from
musical to educational to beneficial and more.
We've got music, but also material for artists and
producers as well as researchers of more conscious
material. As always, when the Dubroom reviews
something, this means that this website considers
the material at least fair. So don't expect any
negative reviews. When it's here, we recommend it.
Period.

JUNIOR
MURVIN - POLICE AND THIEVES (1976)
DUBROOM
VIDEO REVIEW |
| WWW,
April 2008 - Junior Murvin's falsetto
voice became world-renown in his legendary
Lee Perry produced "Police and
Thieves" album. This clip captures the
singer in 1976 as he performs for UK TV.
Before he
burned it down for reasons that have yet to
be discovered, Lee Perry's Black Ark Studio
was the center of some classic Reggae
releases. The sound of the Black Ark was
dominated by the Mu-Tron phaser and until
this very day inspires contemporary
producers to utilize phasers and such in
their own releases, too.
Max Romeo's
"War Inna Babylon", the Congo's
with their "Heart of the Congo's",
and of course "Police and Thieves"
by Junior Murvin are some classics that came
out of the Black Ark Studio.
This video
clip was taken from a UK TV program
"Top of the Pops" and originally
aired back in 1976. It features a young
Junior Murvin playbacking his hit before a
studio audience and although the sight is
not really sensational, the historical value
should be considered self-evident.
Watching Is
A Must!
