| Third
World is a band with full instrumentation
and their own repertoire. Crossing the
boundaries of Reggae with tracks like
"Now that We've Found Love", the
band had several world hits where their
own particular style of music was
showcased to a world wide audience.
Don't be fooled, though. Third World is
definitely a Reggae Band who know their
Roots and Culture. That's why they were one
of the main acts on the Jamaican Sunsplash
festival in 1981.
The track they perform in this studio is
such a conscious track. Jamaican history is
obviously full of stories about slavery, and
96 Degrees In The Shade deals with
such a topic.
Starting off a' capella, then entering a
"spring reverb" effect, followed
by an up-tempo version of the track. There's
two percussionists, not one. Several members
participate in the singing, without changing
the vibe.
Nice and easy, definitely live and
definitely skillfull. Remember, this is 1981
and things were not as easy on stage as they
are today, with the help of all kinds of
digital gadgets.
