He is said to be Bob Marley's favorite
singer, which obviously helped him getting
the title "Crown Prince Of
Reggae". Unfortunately, Dennis Emmanuel
Brown has left us way too early though. His
legacy is huge: countless albums and single
tunes.
In
this enormous wealth of material, the
singer's magnificent concert in Switzerland
stands out in many ways. The ("We The
People") band is full: horns, guitars,
everything is there. Pure energy, pure
Rockers music. The year is 1979 and the
music is as impressive as the Swiss
mountains.
We
review two tracks: "So JAH Seh"
and "Drifter". Both come from this
rather legendary concert, which has also
been released on LP and later CD. An
outstanding concert by an outstanding Reggae
singer: a dread combination fe true.
An energetic Dennis Brown, timely dressed
in something yellow, performs in an
energetic way. He even picks up a guitar and
there's no loss in his voice. His singing,
by the way, is simply marvelous! More often
than not, singers won't reach their height
at live concerts but not in this case.
