The Dubroom reviews a lot of different material, from musical to educational to beneficial and more. We've got music, but also material for artists and producers as well as researchers of more conscious material. As always, when the Dubroom reviews something, this means that this website considers the material at least fair. So don't expect any negative reviews. When it's here, we recommend it. Period.

JUNIOR MURVIN - POLICE AND THIEVES (1976)
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
WWW, April 2008 - Junior Murvin's falsetto voice became world-renown in his legendary Lee Perry produced "Police and Thieves" album. This clip captures the singer in 1976 as he performs for UK TV.

Before he burned it down for reasons that have yet to be discovered, Lee Perry's Black Ark Studio was the center of some classic Reggae releases. The sound of the Black Ark was dominated by the Mu-Tron phaser and until this very day inspires contemporary producers to utilize phasers and such in their own releases, too.

JAB JAB - GRAND DAD (LIVE AT REVOLVER 1978)
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
WWW, April 2008 - In this rare 1978 footage, we can see and hear some Punky Reggae as UK Roots Reggae band Jab Jab performs for a live studio audience.

Like the other recordings done for the "Revolver" program in the UK back in 1978, this video clip is really, really dated. It's the kind of video that you don't just watch to see the (excellent) musicians, since the audience is at least as interesting because of the antiquarian nature.

SANDRA CROSS AND MAD PROFESSOR WITH WILD BUNCH - CREATION (1982)
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
WWW, April 2008 - Over 26 years ago, the Mad Professor was already mixing it up live while band and vocalists play some upfull righteous Roots Reggae.

One of the things that the Mad Professor is known for, other than his excellent DUB releases, is the fact that he has given a stage for, even basically created the phenomenon of the "Roots Daughters": female Reggae vocalists singing conscious lyrics over serious music.

ENTY-JAH - WHERE GUYANA GONE?
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
WWW, March 2008 - In an answer to the violence in his home base of Guyana, Enty-Jah chants straight from the heart on a brand new dancehall riddim. Time to Chant Down Babylon once more!

Guyana-based vocalist Enty-Jah uses his voice to chant Truth and Right, in his own particular style. Sometimes, we feel the vibe of the 1980's when "fast chat" was developed in the UK where in other times it's like the brethren is singing.

MIKEY DREAD IN REHEARSAL
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
WWW, March 2008 - Unfortunately, he recently passed on. And until recently, Michael "Dread at the Controls" Campbell had been one of the hardest working men in Reggae Music.

In this video, we meet up with the Dread at the Controls in a studio as he practices a couple of tunes in preparation for yet another live tour. One keyboard player, one drummer, one bass player and of course the One and Only Mikey Dread at the microphone stand.
