The Dubroom reviews a lot of different material, from musical to educational to beneficial and more. We've got music, but also material for artists and producers as well as researchers of more conscious material. As always, when the Dubroom reviews something, this means that this website considers the material at least fair. So don't expect any negative reviews. When it's here, we recommend it. Period.

RICHIE SPICE AND SPANNER BANNER - LIVE AT REBEL SALUTE, 2005
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
"Rebel Salute" is a Jamaican Reggae Festival. It is nut just any Jamaican Reggae Festival, though. Originally founded by Tony Rebel, there's a line-up of Stricktly Roots and Culture and this give the festival that extra touch.

When Richie Spice and Spanner Banner enter stage, the vibe is allready there. Countless of Ethiopian Flags everywhere, a large band complete with backing vocals to provide the rhythm: Ire Ites!

LIVE IN SKATELAND - 1980'S DANCEHALL, A DOCUMENTARY
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
Pre-recorded tracks carrying a heavy drum and bassline serves as the backing of a vocalist who rhythmically chants his message on top of the music. Seems kind of normal, in this 21st century, and so it is.

But where does it come from, in the first place?

MISTY IN ROOTS - POOR AND NEEDY (1983)
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
When Reggae Music came into existence during the late 1960's, the music was -and still is- predominantly a studio-based music and the "bands" were predominantly studio bands. But with the success of Bob Marley and the Wailers, the UK witnessed the rise of a new generation of Reggae Artists, as one band after another was born.

Misty in Roots was one of these bands. They are known to be one of the best Live Reggae Bands ever, but in this video we see them performing for John Peel's BBC Sessions.

Enjoy some rare and classic material from a band that has yet to meet it's rival, decades after the group was originally formed.

BURNING SPEAR - MARCUS GARVEY
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
"Live in the Studio": yes, this too is done. Originally recorded for Dutch Public Television, this high quality video registers a live performance by Winston "Burning Spear" Rodney and his Burning Band as they play a marvelous version of the well known track "Marcus Garvey".

Lively, energetic, professional, skillful.

SIZZLA - MINI DOCU AND INTERVIEW (2007)
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
One of the reasons why the Movement of Rastafari leads the was in so many aspects of Reggae Music, is the fact that Rastafari deals with consciousness and uplifting of the people.

Take Sizzla. Where the political correct posse likes to tear him down, the Dancehall vocalist himself puts a lot of effort in uplifting people in the ghetto's of Kingston Jamaica.

In this 9 minute video, we are being taken to Sizzla's home base, his music, his meditations and ofcourse his music.
