The Dubroom reviews a lot of different material, from musical to educational to beneficial and more. We've got music, but also material for artists and producers as well as researchers of more conscious material. As always, when the Dubroom reviews something, this means that this website considers the material at least fair. So don't expect any negative reviews. When it's here, we recommend it. Period.

MISTY IN ROOTS - SYSTEM OWN DEM, BABYLON CONTROL DEM
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
Jamaican music, also known as Reggae, has been popular throughout the UK because of the colonialist ties between the two countries. In the 1970's, there was a remarkable rise of Reggae Music bands in the UK and many of these bands continue until this very day.

MISTY IN ROOTS was such a band, too. In this recording from the 1980's they show their specialty, which is performing spiritually based Reggae Music live on stage.

KIDDUS I - GRADUATION IN ZION
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
In this shot taken from the legendary movie "Rockers", we see a performance by Kiddus I. It's a rare performance, and even those with a huge Reggae collection will perhaps only have this track. But what a track it is!

In an exceptionally heartical vibe, Kiddus I sings words of encouragement to the sufferers. The scene is shot in the studio, and whether he sung it live or not, doesn't matter.

JOSEPH SHEPHERD & JAH MASON - ONE TWO ORDER (2007)
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
Coming from the Judgement Yard community center in August Town Jamaica, here is their first official video. The Judgement Yard was founded by well-known dancehall artist Sizzla, and serves as a place for young Rastas to develop themselves musically and otherwise.

It's a duet by Jah Mason, another well known artist from Judgement Yard, together with the up and coming Joseph Shepherd. Riding a militant steppers rhythm, the two vocalists chant down Babylon once more while the viewer of the video is being treated to a number of sights from the community center.

GREGORY ISAACS - TUNE IN (1978)
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
In this rather rare clip, we can see a rather young Gregory Isaacs as he performs for what seems to be a television show. The kind of material that most Reggae fans throughout the world were not privy to see, as there was no Internet Video back then.

The year is 1978, so when it comes to special video effects there's nothing really fancy going on during the clip. However, he performs in front of a great background and the music is, there's not really a need to say it but let's do it anyway: great!

JOHNNY CLARKE - just call me african roots
DUBROOM VIDEO REVIEW
Brilliant performance, in great sound and sight quality: Johnny Clarke performing one of his classics on the UK based Jools Holland TV Show. A great band backs him, while a professional crew records everything on video.

When the music was originally released sometime in the 1970's, Johnny's voice was allready quite remarkable. But now, decades later, his voice has matured and is solid as a rock, and sweet as candy in the same time.
