Green, who unfortunately left us way to
soon, was a DUB Poet. Not to be mistaken
with the art of toasting, where DJ's chanted
over the instrumentals and dubs in the Sound
Systems.
The genre became known through the works
of Linton Kwesie Johnson. Also, Mutabaruka
has done a lot to forward Dub Poetry.
More often then not, the music accompanying
the poems is deep deep DUB.
And DUB is predominantly drum and
bassline music.
In this video, you will also find the
drum and bassline along with the spoken
poetry. However, the drum is played by hand
drums, and the bassline comes from an
acoustic guitar.
The video is shot by a Jamaican academy.
