| The
popular book "The Da Vinci Code"
claims on the very first page, that it might
be a novel, but it contains factual
descriptions of symbols, places and rituals.
Many scholars, of which many cannot be
described as religious, deny the claim of
author Dan Brown. And fair enough, many of
Mr. Brown's claims are as fictional as the
story.
But Dan Brown has to face more critique.
This time, it comes from the very same
people who made the claims which Dan Brown
pretends to have found for his novel.
The Da Vinci Code Decoded interviews a
writer of the book Holy Blood Holy Grail, as
well as authors of other books. These
authors have made the "discovery"
about Da Vinci's alleged code: mainly
symbolism in his pictures.
The Last Supper, for example. The
painting has been "restored" many
times throughout history, so that we now
don't even know anymore if we are actually
looking to Da Vinci's very own work or the
works of the "restaurators".
Da Vinci Code Decoded therefore is a very
interesting documentary. Interviews with
people who can be considered the creators of
the "real" DaVinci-Code, wherin
they reveal their theories.
But there's more interesting material,
other then vain claims of "I've been
there first" and stuff like that. Most
of the people who are interviewed, reveal
their own religious beliefs in what is now
known as the mystery religions. Jesus was
supposedly married to Mary Magdalene,
ofcourse Jesus was only one in a long line
of Mystery Gods like Osiris, and more of
that.
The documentary reveals how nothing is
based on real research. People get
"intuitive hints", or even
outright "visions during prayers",
and nothing is really based on fact. At
best, we're speaking about interpretation of
facts.
The makers of the documentary seem to be
positive towards the believers in the Da
Vinci Code. Therefore, they probably would
never have wanted to reveal the fact that
everything is based on everything but
facts. But nevertheless, they do it.
